Connecting Google Drive to Athera

Warning:  GDrive access is temporarily disabled while we address some issues resulting from recent Atlas performance improvements.

Athera includes support for Google Drive integration, allowing you to access your personal Drive data inside Athera Sessions. Your Orgs and Projects share access to your GDrive storage, but you can only link a single GDrive to Athera at a time.

Note:  File names in Athera cannot be more than 1024 UTF-8 characters in length. File names exceeding this limit cannot be synchronized due to underlying cloud provider limitations.

Note:  We strongly recommend that you don't use Google Drive as your main storage in production, because performance and reliability cannot be guaranteed.

Note:  If you want to connect another Google account to an Athera session, you need to deactivate the current account first. See Disconnecting Google Accounts for more information.

1.   Click Account in the top-right of the dashboard.
2.   Under Storage, click Activate.

You're redirected to accounts.google.com automatically.

3.   Click the account associated with GDrive.

Note:  If it's the first time you have connected GDrive, you're prompted to grant Athera access. Click Allow to continue.

You're returned to your Athera session automatically and the GDrive panel is now active for new sessions.

4.   You can access your GDrive from in-App browsers here:

/data/gdrive/

Athera includes a standard Linux-type file browser called Toolbox, which you can launch in a Session just like any other application. See Launching an Application and Adding Entitlements for more information.

Note:  Once a GDrive is activated, only new sessions have access. Existing sessions must be closed and reopened. See Launching an Application for more information.

Refreshing GDrive Content

Athera does not automatically recognize when directories and files are added or removed from your GDrive. If you change the GDrive content that Athera has access to, you need to flush the Athera cache to re-scan the external storage and synchronize any changes to directories and files.

To refresh GDrive content:

1.   Click Account in the top-right of the dashboard.
2.   Under Apps Region, ensure that you're in the correct Current Region.
3.   Click Rescan.

Note:  After rescanning, you may need to refresh your browser page to see the updated information.

Athera re-scans the external storage and synchronizes any changes to directories and files.

Note:  If you have a large amount of data in your account, Rescan and caching can be extremely slow compared to GCS.

Disconnecting Google Accounts

You can only link a single GDrive to Athera at a time. If you want to connect another GDrive to an Athera session, you need to deactivate the current account first.

1.   Click Account in the top-right of the dashboard.
2.   Under Storage, click Deactivate.

3.   Connect another GDrive as described under Connecting Google Drive to Athera.
